SEAIR SELLS ADDITIONAL OIL SANDS GROUNDWATER TREATMENT EQUIPMENT
Edmonton, Alberta, June 13, 2011. Seair Inc. (SDS:TSX Venture Exchange) is pleased to announce it has sold a SA1200 diffusion tower to a major oil sands producer and Canadian Oil Sands Network for Research and Development (CONRAD) member, bringing the number of dewatering treatment units purchased by the producer to seventeen (17). The SA1200 is the largest diffusion tower Seair has produced to date with a flow-through capacity of over 19 m3 (5,000 gallons) per minute. Its sale represents a further validation of Seair’s capacity to provide efficient, cost-effective dewatering solutions to the producer for its on-going oil sands mining operations.
Seair oil sands dewatering solutions are being used by the producer to treat water from pressurized aquifers lying beneath the mine so that the water can be discharged directly into the surrounding environment. The treated aquifer water is regulated and inspected for ammonia and sulphide concentrations to ensure compliance with standards prior to discharge. Previously the aquifer water was sent to oil sands effluent tailing ponds where it is held indefinitely with the oil sands process water. Seair’s SA1200 and previously deployed dewatering units allow the producer to meet the discharge standards by processing aquifer produced waters on a continuously flowing basis using only ambient air. As such, it is a chemical-free solution to reduce the inflow of water into oil sands processing effluent tailing ponds.
The SA1200 unit was being rented by the producer on a trial basis for several months prior to purchase.
About Seair
Seair develops proprietary equipment that diffuses gases, such as oxygen, ozone and carbon dioxide, into liquids. Seair’s patented technologies can produce extremely small bubbles which are more efficient than other diffusion technologies. The result is a stable condition, where gases remain in solution for extended periods of time, leading to increased productivity and lower operating costs. This, in turn, facilitates gas-based treatment of complex and challenging wastewater and allows Seair to provide full water reuse and closed loop systems.
Seair applications include frac and produced water treatment, efficient aeration of industrial ponds, mine dewatering, end-to-end sewage treatment for permanent residential communities and remote work camps, golf course irrigation and pond treatment, and oil sands/SAGD water solutions.
