SEAIR Inc. announces the appointment of Dr. Ansar Qureshi as Executive Scientific Advisor
EDMONTON, ALBERTA – July 28, 2004, SEAIR Inc. (“SDS” on the TSX Venture Exchange) SEAIR Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Ansar Qureshi as Executive Scientific Advisor in charge of Scientific Operations and Business Development. Dr. Qureshi’s focus will be to apply his extensive experience in issues of water quality, facilitated by the established network of contacts, to Business Development and Sales. His responsibilities will include scientific supervision of SEAIR Diffusion Technology on toxic waste sites in the Oil and Gas and Pulp and Paper Industries, and supervision of applications in the Aquaculture, Horticulture, and Greenhouse Industries. SEAIR anticipates that Dr. Qureshi will be instrumental in expanding the market applications of SEAIR Technology to all industries overcoming water quality challenges. Dr. Qureshi will be able to provide many established contacts in the industries with which SEAIR is currently working.
Dr. Qureshi is recognized as a leading global expert in the use and application of Microtox technology for toxicity assessment. In particular, he has extensive experience in the use of the luminescent bacteria test (Microtox) for environmental testing in support of wastewater management, effluent characterization, site evaluation and remediation, environmental impact assessment and drilling waste regulatory monitoring.
Dr. Qureshi brings more than 20 years of both management and scientific experience in the areas of environmental toxicology, microbiology, marketing and project management. His research emphasis and consulting expertise include: environmental impact assessment and water quality studies and monitoring, toxicity testing (bioassays) of chemicals, drilling waste, waste water, food, soil and environmental microbiology, and quality assurance of laboratory operations and test systems.
A graduate of the University of New Brunswick with a Ph.D in microbiology, Dr. Qureshi has previously held positions with various public and private organizations in the capacity of Senior Manager, Scientific Manager, Senior Scientist, Marketing Manager and Corporate Director. These include Environment Canada, Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Alberta Environmental Centre, Norwest Labs and Azur Environmental (Carlsbad, CA), EnviroTest Labs, Alberta Health and Alberta Envirnoment.
Throughout his career, Dr Qureshi has participated in numerous seminars and workshops and has presented papers at many national and international conferences. In addition to his impressive professional credentials, he has authored over 70 scientific publications on environmental microbiology, water and waste water quality assessment, and ecotoxicology.
SEAIR is engaged in the development, manufacture and sales of its proprietary diffusion and sterilization technologies with applications in various industries throughout North America and globally. The Corporation is actively involved in the North American Greenhouse industry within which it has been successful in the implementation and sales of its greenhouse nutrient diffusion technologies. Further applications of oxygenation and sterilization in industries such as Aquaculture, Aquaponics and Horticulture as well as other environmentally benign sterilization applications, and waste water bio-remediation are currently being developed and tested.
