SEAIR Diffusion Technology Aquaculture Applications initiated at the University of Victoria
EDMONTON, ALBERTA – June 22, 2004, SEAIR Inc. (“SDS” on the TSX Venture Exchange) is pleased to announce that two 10 litre Diffusion Units were installed at the University of Victoria Aquatic Research Facility in mid June. The Aquatic Research Facility supports disciplines undertaking research requiring controlled conditions in both freshwater and seawater. The University is recognized internationally for its innovation and quality of support and is a central reference for the Aquatic industry.
Initial results have indicated that the effectiveness of a single SEAIR unit is providing enough data for further evaluation. This will allow the second SEAIR unit to be relocated to a field test at Applied Aquatic Concepts, a major supplier of fish and aquatic plants in Western Canada.
The tests are being conducted under the supervision of Gerry Horne, Manager of the Aquatic Research Facility, and will review the application of SEAIR’s patented Diffusion Technology in supporting oxygen levels in seawater. Initial test observations show the equipment to be effective in delivering and maintaining the required 110% saturation level. Data is currently being collected and preliminary results are expected in early July. As part of the program, SEAIR is continuing to integrate modifications that will make the equipment adaptable to a variety of Aquatic settings.
As part of its aquaculture strategy, SEAIR Inc. is actively exploring applications of its technology in the following areas; coastal fish farms to combat fatal oxygen depletion under algae blooms, controlling levels of oxygen in the transportation of fish livestock, and in providing efficient delivery of dissolved oxygen to inland fish farms. In North America the aquaculture and associated industries are a multi-billion dollar industry. Market penetration in Canada, the United States, and abroad is currently being actively pursued by SEAIR and it is anticipated that sales in this area will be forthcoming in the near future.
SEAIR is engaged in the development, manufacture and sales of its proprietary diffusion and sterilization technologies with applications in various industries throughout North America and globally. The Corporation is actively involved in the North American Greenhouse industry within which it has been successful in the implementation and sales of its greenhouse nutrient diffusion technologies. Further applications of oxygenation and sterilization in industries such as Aquaculture, Aquaponics and Horticulture as well as other environmentally benign sterilization applications, and waste water bio-remediation are currently being developed and tested.
